The New Gloucester Economic and Community Development Committee works to support local businesses, enhance business conditions, and develop community engagement, through actions to:
- Develop municipal initiatives that support local businesses and attract new businesses that are compatible with the community, meet the needs of residents, and provide new community revenues.
- Leverage the community’s location, setting and character to enhance economic development.
- Promote an age-friendly community that is a healthy, active and safe place to live, work, play and age.
- Identify community development grants and resources.
- Collaborate with town departments and committees, businesses, local volunteer groups, and community service organizations to encourage age-friendly initiatives.
The committee is comprised of seven at-large members, one Select Board Liaison (non-voting) and a staff member.
If you have ever been interested in working to support the business community, and the goals of the committee's mission statement above resonate, please join us. Committee meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday at 6:00 PM at the New Gloucester Meeting House at 389 Intervale Road and are open to the public - we encourage you to attend and share your thoughts with us.
