The Town of New Gloucester, Maine, Public Works Department, seeks to immediately fill our full-time Mechanic position. This position performs maintenance, Maine State inspections and repairs on all Town vehicles and equipment and requires knowledge of diagnostic analysis equipment, automotive and equipment repair, including gasoline and diesel engines, vehicles, heavy trucks, fire and rescue vehicles, and construction equipment. The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive and creative individual who can balance the maintenance preparation of town owned equipment, as well as unexpected and necessary repairs.
Qualifications for this position include: high school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of a Class B Maine driver’s license; must have, or have ability to obtain within three months, a State of Maine inspection license Class A, D, E & T; and experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of heavy and lighter trucks and other motorized equipment.
Salary range is $29.00-$32.00 per hour. A generous benefit package is available for this position including Maine State Retirement (MePERS Pension System) or 401K Retirement Program, Vacation Time, Sick time, Personal Days, 13 Paid Holidays, and a four-day Monday through Thursday work schedule.
