New Gloucester Board of Assessment Review
The Board of Assessment Review Committee is a new committee to New Gloucester.
At the June 9, 2026 Election, the Town approved a Board of Assessment Review Ordinance. This ordinance is to establish administrative procedures to review appeals from decisions made by the Assessors or Select Board on requests for property tax abatements and determinations that are necessary with respect to tax assessments according to the general laws of the State of Maine.
The Board shall consist of five (5) members. Members shall be residents of the Town of New Gloucester, at least 18 years of age and citizens of the United States at all times during their terms, and shall not be municipal officers or spouses of municipal officers or employees of the Town. Members shall be appointed by the Select Board. Initial appointees terms shall be: two (2) members for three-years; two (2) members for two-years; and one (1) members for one-year.
